With X-Cart shopping cart software you can easily setup various destination zones. Destination zones are zones to which your products can be sold and shipped. These zones affect shipping calculations and tax calculations ( In earlier versions of X-Cart they used to be called 'Shipping/Tax zones').
When you start setting up your destination zones, all the countries and states/provinces activated for your store by the admin are placed into the default zone. You can then make more zones and then define shipping and tax rates for them.
Click on Destination zones in the Inventory menu, the 'Destination zones' form will appear.

If you are using X-Cart GOLD or X-Cart PRO with Single Mode enabled, this form displays all the destination zones specified for your store. If you are using an X-Cart PRO shop with Single Mode disabled, you see just the default zone and zones specified by yourself (you cannot see or edit the zones added by the other providers).
Click on Add new. The 'Zone details' form will appear.

Enter a name for the destination zone you are going to add. Click on Update. The zone will be created.
Now the zone has a name, but it is empty. You need to add countries, states, cities, zip/postal codes and addresses to it. Use the expanded 'Zone details' form to do so.
Picture 3: Zone details form (Countries).

The 'Zone details' form is divided into 5 subsections: 'Countries', 'States', 'Cities', 'Zip/Postal codes' and 'Addresses'.
The 'Set' side of each of these subsections is meant to display locations pertaining to the destination zone you are editing. When you first start editing the details of a zone you created, the 'Set' side is empty. Your task is to move the locations pertaining to the zone being edited from the 'Unset' side to the 'Set' side. It means that if you want your zone to contain, for example, United Kingdom, you should select United Kingdom (Great Britain) from the list of countries in the 'Unset' column and click on the '<<' button. 'United Kingdom (Great Britain)' is supposed to appear in the 'Set' field. You can add more than one country at a time: hold Ctrl while clicking on the names of countries with your mouse to select multiple countries, then click on the '<<' button. All of the selected countries will be moved to the 'Set' side. The 'Quick select' feature allows you to quickly select countries by regions. If you click, for example, on the link 'North America', all North-American countries will be automatically selected in the 'Unset' list so you could move them to your zone. The '>>' button removes countries from the destination zone by moving them back from the 'Set' to the 'Unset' column.
After you have added countries to your destination zone, add states/provinces. The states/provinces you want to include into your zone also need to be moved to the 'Set' side of the 'States' subsection.
Picture 4: Zone details form (States).

Note. In earlier versions of X-Cart, countries that had states (e.g. USA) could not be added to a destination zone as a whole - providers had to add all the states of these countries separately. Now it is not the case. The moving of a country that has states to the 'Set' list of a destination zone can be performed with just two clicks. For example, you can select 'United States' from the 'Unset' column, click on '<<' - and be sure that all of its states are included into the zone. If, besides selecting 'United States' as a country, you select 'Alabama' in the 'States' subsection, your destination zone will include only one state of the USA: Alabama.
'Cities', 'Zip/Postal codes' and 'Addresses' subsections allow you to set up masks for smaller areas.

Click on Save zone details to save the changes.
Note. If you need to create a zone that is much like another zone that you have already created, you can copy the existing zone using the 'Clone' feature and make this copy into a new zone.
Click on Destination zones in the Inventory menu, the 'Destination zones' form will appear.
Click on the name of the zone you would like to edit.
Use the 'Zone details' form to change the details of this zone. If necessary, you can rename the zone: edit the name in the 'Zone name' field and click on Update. You can also change the set of countries and states included into this zone, as well as the city, zip/postal code and address masks.
Click on Save zone details to save the changes.
Click on Destination zones in the Inventory menu, the 'Destination zones' form will appear.
Click on the name of the zone you would like to make a copy of.
In the 'Zone details' form click on the Clone button. A copy of the zone will be created (If the name of the zone you cloned was 'new', the clone zone will be named 'new (clone)'.) The clone zone can now be renamed and edited.
Click on Destination zones in the Inventory menu, the 'Destination zones' form will appear.
Select the check box next to the name of the zone you would like to delete. You can use the Check all / Uncheck all links to select or unselect all the boxes.
Click on Delete selected.
