UPS OnLine ® Tools

If you want to use UPS real-time shipping rates calculation service, you need to enable UPS OnLine ® Tools module through the Administration menu -> Modules, register your UPS OnLine ® Tools with UPS and set up your store to work with this real-time calculation service.

After you enable the module, UPS OnLine ® Tools item appears in the Management menu of the admin zone. Click on it to access UPS Online ® Tools Main page. If you haven't registered your UPS OnLine ® Tools yet, you will be asked to complete the licensing and registration process. Click on  the Register button to proceed.

UPS Online ® Tools Licensing & Registration Wizard will be launched that will walk you through all the steps of the registration process. At Step 1 you will be asked to confirm your intention to proceed with the registration.

If you do not want to continue with registering UPS Online ® Tools now, click on Cancel. Otherwise click on Next.

At Step 2 you will be asked to read the terms and conditions of the Agreement with UPS Internet Services, Inc.('UPS').

If you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Agreement, select Yes, I Do Agree and click on Next. If you do not agree, select No, I Do Not Agree (in this case you will not be able to register and use UPS Online ® Tools).

At Step 3 you will be supposed to provide your registration information. The address you provided in General settings -> Company options is automatically entered into the registration form. However, you can provide a different address and contact info (manually or using the Fill From Profile button).

Make sure you have completed all the fields and entered your valid e-mail address before you click on Next.

Step 4 informs you of the successful completion of the registration process.

Click on Finish to go to UPS Online ® Tools Main page.

This time the Main page will look something like this:

You can click on Configure to configure your UPS Online ® Tools. Clicking on Register allows you to run the licensing and registration wizard again.

If you click on Configure, you get access to UPS Online ® Tools Rates & Service Selection page.

Note. 'Real-time shipping calculation' must be enabled and 'Intershipper calculation services' must be disabled in General settings -> Shipping options section. If you get a warning in red, you need to correct your store settings.

UPS Online ® Tools Rates & Services Selection page allows you to provide the necessary details for Rates & Service Selection OnLine Tool and Address Validation OnLine Tool.

  1. Select your merchant account type. UPS has several classifications based on your account-type choice:

Daily Pickup - a UPS driver will come to your location every day (weekly service charge applies).

Occasional Shipper - It is the responsibility of the merchant to drop the package into the UPS System.

Suggested Retail Rate - Paying for the shipments at the UPS Store (Label is actually created by the UPS Store).

  1. Select the necessary packaging type.

  2. Specify the size of your package.

  3. Select one or more service options (press and hold Ctrl while clicking your mouse to select multiple options).

  4. Enter package insured value in cents.

  5. Select insured value currency.

  6. Enter shipping cost conversion rate.

  7. Find out what it says in the 'Shipping cost currency' line. The currency code that is returned by UPS is defined automatically when a request for getting the shipping rates is successfully performed. If  you see 'Unknown' instead of a currency code in this line, this request has not been performed yet - so you need to request the shipping rates. To do so, click on the Test button in the lower part of the form, complete the Test destination shipping address form and click on Submit.

After this test run the currency code will be appear in the 'Shipping cost currency' line.

  1. If you want to use UPS test server first, select the appropriate check box.

  1. Select Address Validation status (Enabled or Disabled).

  2. Select Address Validation quality (Exact match, Very close match, Close match, Possible match, Poor match)

  3. Click on Update.

  4. To test the Rates & Service Selection and Address Validation Tools click on the Test button.

  5. To go to the UPS OnLineŽ Tools main page click on the Main page button.

Note. UPS module requires EXPAT extension for php and an HTTPS request system like Net:SLeay, libCURL, CURL, Open SSL or HTTPS-cli. Open the Summary page through the Administration menu in the admin area and make sure the necessary components are installed on your system. If you select the Net:SLeay perl module as your preferred HTTPS module, you should specify the full path to Perl interpreter executable in General settings -> General options.
